Patersom, K. (1972). Bridge To Terabithia. New York, NY: Crown.

Summary:

Jess and Leslie met in a very unparticular way. Although it wasn't a promising beginning, they built a friendship where they were inseparable. Together they created a magical land named Teribithia. In this magical kingdom, both Jess and Leslie reign as king and queen, and they get to use their imagination without any limits. One horrible day Leslie has an accident and dies, leaving her friend Jess alone.

Strength:

This book is a great book that talks about friendships and growing up fast. The book teaches children that it is essential to enjoy your childhood and don't worry about trying to grow so quickly. When children are young, they use their imaginations without limits. The older you get, the less time you have to use your imagination, and you lose it due to life's circumstances.

Award:

California Young Readers Medal Nominee for Middle School/Junior High (1980)
