Keats, E. J. (1969). Goggles! New York, NY: Penguin Group.

Summary:

Archie was happy to know that Peter found some motorcycle goggles. Peter ran back to their hideout to show Archie how great the goggles are. They were on their way to Archie's house when some older boys appeared and wanted Peter to give them the goggles. Peter refused to give the older boys the googles, and he got knocked down to the ground. The goggles fell, and everyone just stared at them. Before anyone could move Willie, the dog snatched the goggles and ran. Everyone started running after Willie. Peter ran back to the hideout to wait for Willie. Archie then showed up to help look for Willie. They saw through the hole of the pipe and saw the three boys and Willie. Archie called Wille through the pipe, and he came. Peter tricked the boys by yelling through the pipe that Willie was heading through to the parking lot. Peter, Archie, and Willie crept out of the hideout and ran home.

Strength:

The book has a fun story. It talks about friendship and how, by working together, you can accomplish what is needed. The two boys end up getting in a bit of trouble, but together they were able to get out of the sticky situation. The illustrations help tell the story in a fun way.
