Summary:

Having a family member with a disability like autism can be very challenging for the family. Catherine just wanted to try to live a normal life, which she new was nearly impossible when your younger brother has autism. Her family is always revolving around David's disability. For many years Catherine tried to teach David rules so he could stop embarrassing her. Then one day, she met Jason at the clinic. David goes to and Kristi, their new neighbor. Through meeting them two, Catherine learned what is essential in life. From that moment on, she embraced her brother's disability and didn't feel embarrassed by him.



Strength:

The book explains to the readers the difficulty that families face when someone in their family has a disability. People with autism or other challenges are misunderstood. This book will help students understand the life of the person with autism and the family member who lives with them. People with disabilities want to be heard and understood with their own experiences.
