Summary: Hugo Cabret was an orphan who lived in a Paris train station. Hugo became an orphan the day his father passed away in a tragic fire. Hugo went under the custody of his uncle. One day the uncle didn't come back because of his drinking problem. Hugo had to do what he could do to survive. Hugo then finds the automaton figure his father had built. He thinks the figure holds a final message from his father. Hugo decided to work hard to rebuild the automaton. During the process, he meets a girl named Isabelle, who held the key to the operation figure he was restoring. When the automaton was finally complete, they find the mysteries that were contained within. Hugo's great mystery was finally solved.



Strength: This book helps readers understand the life of a child who was left orphan because of a tragic accident. Students can relate to it because some children have lost their families to a horrific accident. The main character shows the students never to give up and demonstrate perseverance. The book shows the student that in you want something in life; you have to pursue that dream and accomplish it.
