Willems, M. (2014). Waiting is not easy! New York: Hyperion Books for Children.

Summary:

Gerald the elephant was waiting on his friend piggie because piggie had a surprise for him. Elephant was waiting and waiting for the surprise that he didn't realize that the whole day had gone by. Elephant was getting very anxious because piggie never gave him his surprise. Piggie told him to be patient and wait but elephant couldn't stand it anymore. When the moment came piggie pointed to the night sky and showed him the beauty of the stars at night.

Strength:

The book teaches that patience is virtue. This will be a great lesson to teach students that even though it is difficult to wait they need to be patient. This story is relate-able to children because in a daily basis children struggle with being patient.
